There’s an island
Under the carbon dust
Lost in the blackened mud
Floating ashes, dampened rust
Where once life bloomed
Under the sky full of stars
Twinkling, kissing each other afar
And atop the lively green grass
Curious, desirous
Beating more of their hearts
Dreaming of what’s in their cards
With marigolds and white orchids
Dangling from their fingers
Swing on the branches
No birds and bees
Only feathers and stingers
The sands wither off in a second
Only a second later it seems
The sands of times and lilies
One can never dream too deep
And as I struggle to breathe
I give in to what the mind sees
When reality is asleep
This daydream becomes the enemy
And only terrible thoughts
Swim in the ocean of fire
Recreating mud, all the dust
There’s my dreamy island
In the midst of blue chaos
Burning free, rising high
Floating ashes in the sky.
