Gave me the medal
Crowned me
With all the fake jewels
Say that’s motivation?
It’s bad education
Feeding lies, taking credit
For the success, what about
All the times when
I couldn’t put my head up?
To that, you spit up
Look down on me
Say you’re disappointed, with what?
How I chose my life to be?
Or how you couldn’t control me?
It’s like your hand
Holding a thread onto my life
Strangling my windpipe
Making me a puppet
To you, to all of them
There’s no me, but everyone else
Like looking in a mirror
“I can’t see myself”
But fuck you
And fuck them
I took your stand
On every stance
But with mine
You turned around, left me
Crawling on the ground
“Help me up, ease my…”
All in thin air
Those the wrong words
I gasp for breath, pull myself
“DON’T TOUCH ME, I’M FINE”
Knives and edges
Threads and me
All on the same line.

  1. I really felt this poem, and how hard it is when a family member or friend you thought was on your side turns out not to be. Especially when they feel like they can start making decisions that affect your whole life. That happened to me last year, and it was awful! If this poem is about something specific, I pray that you’ll find healing soon
